HAPPY NATIONAL NANNY RECOGNITION WEEK!

Raising children is a full-contact, high-energy, strategic team sport… It's a balancing act designed for people who have at least 8 arms – one for catching flying sippy cups, one for holding the diaper bag, one for preparing lunch, one for holding the baby, one for wiping down the counters, one for… (Please note that in the rules of the game no single task may require two hands. All hands MUST operate independently of one another.) In order to be truly proficient one must also have approximately 18 extra pairs of eyeballs – preferably a couple you can leave scattered throughout various rooms of the house… because "When I walk out of this room to prepare lunch you can bet I can STILL see you!"

Kids are an adventure odyssey that rivals Indiana Jones. They are little superheroes that combine the Marvel and DC universes with Star Wars and Star Trek (because kids don't care AT ALL about what is canon). Sometimes walking into a house with kids feels like Jurassic Park --- sometimes it's the moment RIGHT BEFORE you realize the velociraptors are gone...and sometimes it's the part where you see the Indominus Rex coming for you… But some days they are all Hallmark Channel…warm and cozy feelings wrapped up in a blanket and tied up with feel-good.

So this week for National Nanny Recognition Week I want to thank the amazing nannies who have teamed up with me over the years, who have watched my nanny kiddos run through every one of these channels and have loved them alongside me. I have been blessed in my 10+ years of nannying to always have a phenomenal nanny pod & support system. And though that pod has changed over the years (with shifting families, shifting hours, people moving, and people moving on from the nanny life)... I am so grateful for the Columbus nanny community and in particular the lovely nannies that have joined my nanny journey.

Thank you to The Heart State Nanny Agency nannies for all of the work that you do supporting families, loving children, and championing each other.
